When I was just twenty-one months old, my parents enrolled me in violin lessons. Since then, my life has been dedicated to mastering the violin and enjoying music. I come from a very musical family, and music has always been a strong influence in my life. My mom played piano, dad played guitar and drums, and my siblings and I all played multiple instruments. We grew up making music as a family, and my love for music never went away. In 2009, I received a Bachelor of Music degree in music performance from Reinhardt University with a concentration in violin and a minor in piano. I am also Suzuki certified and infuse a lot of the Suzuki teaching methods into my lessons. While at Reinhardt. I studied with Juan Ramirez and Lisa Morrison, and played in the Reinhardt Symphony Orchestra and many chamber ensembles. I have been teaching private violin and piano lessons since 2005, first teaching at fine arts schools in Forsyth and Cherokee county, before finally branching off to start my own studio. I love teaching from my own studio because it givesme more flexibility with scheduling and more freedom in terms of teaching style and curriculum. I teach students of all ages and experience levels, and I think it's never too early or too late to develop a love of music! I love the challenge of teaching because each student is uniquely different in the way that they learn. With every single lesson, I strive to get to know my students more and more so that I can teach them better. My goal is that every student reaches a deeper love of music and a higher sense of accomplishment. We also have a lot of fun. I get so excited to see each one of my students every week. My students are really the highlight of my life!
I also work as a free-lance musician, playing with churches, orchestras and chamber groups throughout the metro Atlanta area and surrounding areas, including the Georgia Symphony, North Georgia Symphony, Symphony Orchestra Augusta, the Rome Symphony, and the Gadsden, AL Symphony, the Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra, and more. I also own and perform with a string trio called Cobalt Strings, and you can see tons of videos of me playing on their social media pages @CobaltStrings. I attend Woodstock City church and love performing there, as well as at North Point Community Church, Buckhead church, Gwinnett Church, Mount Bethel UMC, Eastside Baptist Church, Victory World Church, Chapel Roswell, and many other churches throughout the Atlanta area. When I'm not performing or teaching, I'm usually reading, practicing (of course!) going to Braves games with my husband, or playing with my two miniature dachshunds, Lucy and Libby! My very favorite thing to do in the whole world is to kick back with a good book, some waffle fries, and a Dr. Pepper. :)
